It’s not often that I get asked to photograph a birth.<\/p>\n

Whether it’s just not on a mom’s radar to hire a photographer<\/p>\n

or because I just haven’t marketed myself as a birth photographer.<\/p>\n

Either way, I am honored beyond words when<\/p>\n

a family trusts me enough to share the most intimate event in their life.<\/p>\n

And a home birth seems even more intimate to me.<\/p>\n

For two weeks before and after a moms due date<\/p>\n

like the rest of the family, I’m on pins and needles waiting for the call.<\/p>\n

You never know what to expect –<\/p>\n

what time you’ll get the call,<\/p>\n

how long you’ll be there<\/p>\n

where “there” will actually be.<\/p>\n

From a photographers perspective, we always think about light.<\/p>\n

Will there be beautiful window light?<\/p>\n

Will we end up in the hospital with lots of florescent lights,<\/p>\n

or in this case, will it be in the middle of the night with just a single lamp for light.<\/p>\n

Several years ago – the last scenario would have stressed me out<\/p>\n

but I can just roll with the punches now.<\/p>\n

Celebrating life is what I do.<\/p>\n

Emily and Rob were not only completely ready<\/p>\n

they had an amazing team.<\/p>\n

Olivia<\/a> and Candace<\/a>\u00a0work so seamlessly together<\/p>\n

I loved listening to them guide Emily and Rob through the night.<\/p>\n

I’m looking forward to working with them again very soon.<\/p>\n

Don’t rush through this post<\/p>\n

Savor every portrait<\/p>\n

And enjoy the slideshow at the end.<\/p>\n

I promise – it’s worth it.<\/p>\n

Emily worked hard – she was super woman. Her strength just amazed me.<\/p>\n

And Rob was always right there. \u00a0Always.<\/p>\n

All through the night he would look at me and say, “I just love her – isn’t she just amazing?”<\/p>\n

Melt. \u00a0Just melt.<\/p>\n
